Introduction
The Dual-Masters Degree Program between Georgia Tech (GT) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) offers a non-thesis Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering (MSIE) from the School of Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISyE) at GT, and a thesis MS degree from one of three units at SJTU: School of Management, Department of Industrial Engineering & Management, Department of Maritime Transport. GT’s Industrial Engineering program has remained number one in the United States for 17 years in a row. The Dual-MS degree program is offered through SJTU in Shanghai, China. The non-thesis MSIE degree is an existing GT degree; the emphasis at GT-Shanghai will be the manufacturing and logistics track. Courses will be taught by GT faculty or adjunct faculty during the summer semester from the SJTU Fahua campus, and the fall semester from the SJTU Minhang campus.
Whereas the GT MSIE degree normally requires 3 semesters for completion and the SJTU MS degree takes 5 semesters (2.5 years) to complete, dual-MS degree program students can expect to spend 7 semesters (2.5 years, including the summers) to complete the two degrees.
The program also accepts non-Chinese citizen students who are interested in pursuing the GT MS degree in Shanghai. During the spring term, GT single degree students are encouraged to engage in internship training with multinational companies, or to participate in language and cultural courses offered through SJTU.
Non-GT degree seeking students who are currently enrolled at other US universities as degree-seeking students can apply to become transient students at GT-Shanghai for one semester.
