December 14, 2007: Congratulations to the first group of GT-Shanghai students who matriculated in 2006 and who earned their GT MS degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2007!
- June 9, 2007: The first class of Coulter Fellows has "adopted" Fenfa School, a primary school for rural migrant workers’ children in the Minhang district of Shanghai. The Coulter Fellows visit Fenfa School each Saturday during the school year to teach conversational English to the pupils. ECE Connection article.
- May 21, 2007: 2007 Shanghai Summer Program opens at Xuhui Campus of SJTU.
- April 10, 2007: Following a formal application process and two-day
interviews, nine (9) current and incoming SJTU graduate students have been
recommended for the 2007 Coulter Fellowship which enables them to
participate in the GT-SJTU ECE Dual-MS degree program. Congratulations to
the first class of Coulter Fellows!
- April 2, 2007: The most recent ranking information from the US News & World Report: Georgia Tech’s graduate engineering program maintained its national stature, ranked fourth in the nation. The Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) program retained its number one position for the 17th straight year. The School of ECE’s Computer Engineering graduate curriculum was ranked 6th, the Electrical Engineering graduate curriculum was ranked 7th.

March 21, 2007: The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia has approved the establishment of the existing Master of Science in Industrial Engineering (MSIE) and Master of Science in Operations Research (MSOR) degrees as part of the Dual-Masters degree program agreement between Georgia Tech’s School of Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISyE) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

March 21, 2007: A ten-person Georgia Tech delegation, led by Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies Dr. Anderson Smith and Associate Vice Provost for International Programs Dr. Howard Rollins, visited SJTU to discuss undergraduate exchange between the two universities. At an evening reception for Georgia Tech alumni in China, the China Georgia Tech Club was formally introduced. Interested Yellow Jackets are encouraged to contact Mr. Jon King, BSME’2000 for membership in the club.
- March 13, 2007: Georgia Tech - Shanghai student Chenchi Luo has won the Georgia Tech Oscar P. Cleaver Award. The Cleaver Award is given to a student with the highest score on the School of ECE PhD preliminary exam. The Spring PhD preliminary exam took place on February 3, 2007, simultaneously at four Georgia Tech worldwide locations: Atlanta (USA), Savannah (USA), Lorraine (France), and Shanghai (China). Mr. Luo scored the highest from test takers from all four campuses.

January 26, 2007: The Wallace H. Coulter Foundation has pledged $1 million support for the GT-SJTU ECE Dual-MS degree program, including the provision of approximately 50 Coulter Fellowships during the next 5 years. Philanthropy Quarterly article.
- July 24, 2006: G. Tong Zhou has been named Director of the Georgia Tech Shanghai Initiative, effective July 1, 2006. In her new role, Dr. Zhou will be the institutional leader and contact for Georgia Tech operations in Shanghai, including the programs at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). She will direct the GT-SJTU ECE Dual-M.S. Degree Program in coordination with the ECE Graduate Affairs Office and will coordinate and oversee, along with the Office of International Education (OIE), all GT-Shanghai programs.
- May 22, 2006: 2006 Shanghai Summer Program opens at Xuhui Campus of SJTU.
- May 15, 2006: GT-SJTU Dual-MS degree program opens at Minhang Campus of SJTU.

January 10, 2006: The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia has approved Georgia Tech’s request to offer the existing Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) degree in Shanghai, China, in collaboration with Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
- December 6, 2005: President Wayne Clough received an Honorary Doctorate of Science degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Clough is only the third individual in SJTU’s 109-year history to receive such an honor.
