Work Abroad In China
How are you going to prepare yourself for today’s workforce? How will you be competitive with the other students in your program for that perfect job? Work Abroad! Companies are increasingly looking to hire students who understand the global economy and international relations; are able to function effectively in multi-national work environments; can assimilate comfortably into different world cultures; and know how their discipline is practiced in a global context. Gain practical experience in your field of study while growing personally, learning a new culture, and seeing a new part of the world.
As a Georgia Tech (GT) student, if you participate in any one of the three
GT-Shanghai programs established between GT and Shanghai Jiao Tong
University (SJTU) in Shanghai, China, GT-Shanghai will help you to gain
internship opportunities at top notch companies like IBM and Intel, during
a subsequent semester. This is a chance of a lifetime. The three GT-Shanghai programs are: MS Program in Electrical & Computer
Engineering (ECE), MS Program in Industrial Engineering (IE), and the
Shanghai Summer Program.
The Work Abroad program is part of the International Plan, a Georgia Tech initiative that was launched in 2005 to offer a challenging academic program that develops global competence within the context of a student’s major. The Work Abroad Program includes co-op, internship, graduate, and undergraduate work experiences – the qualifier being international. These international work experiences are designed for the ultimate experience to include practical training, cross-cultural exposure and learning, and acquisition of the softer skills that will set you apart from others.
